Schedule Assignments in Google Classroom, Google Form "Password", Recap Video Responses, Siri Reads, Record your iPad Screen, Prince, Tilt Brush, Training & Results

Did you know?
You can now schedule your assignments/posts in Google Classroom! In addition, they will be adding a feature for parents/guardians to get daily/weekly emails of their student’s progress and upcoming assignments. This feature is coming in the Fall. +Google for Education

What if?
Adding a “Password” to your Google Form - This teacher has a technique that works like a password. It is as simple as having the 1st question as a kind of gate-keeper.  If they don’t fill that one in correctly, it won’t let them proceed. Be sure to watch the full video, she has an important element a little further in. Thank you @JenRoberts1 Her video is done in the Classic version of Google Forms, see the picture below to find the Data Validation option in the New Forms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Xqela7AHYg +Google for Education

Something to think about…
Check out this tool for Video Responses - Recap is an easy new tool in open beta and available for use.  It allows the teacher to put in questions via text or video. Students respond with video comments. Students can get in using a class code or by email/password. It is web-based and works on chromebooks, ipads, laptops and computers. A great alternative to the written assignment, this could be a great tool for differentiation, foreign language, accommodations and all content areas. Thank you +Paula Smith for sending this my way!
A few notes to consider:
  • No video upload or downloading necessary
  • Will only allow one assignment at a time, currently
  • iPad app has a few more options for recording other than from a front facing position
  • Teacher can’t set it up on an iPad, must be done using a laptop, computer or chromebook
  • Students will need to “allow” the camera to work (this is a one time pop up window)
  • Teacher needs to put student’s names in ahead of time, that way, when they enter the code, they choose their icon and go to work from there. You can just use first or just use last names if desired.
  • In our district, I did test it out on a chromebook, using the test student account and was able to get in without any trouble.
  • For a video demonstration of the teacher and student side, go to https://youtu.be/_0JknM6P3C0 it’s around 11 minutes long
  • To get to the site, go to app.letsrecap.com
