Did you know?
Enable Night Shift on your iPhone, using iOS 9.3 - This feature makes your screen warmer in tone as the sun goes down! That blue light is hard on the eyes...this is a nice fix. You can work with a custom schedule or choose “sunset to sunrise”. You can also choose your level of “warmness”.  To access:  click Settings>Display & Brightness>Night Shift. I had it up and running in no time, but if you’re having any trouble this article by BGR may help http://bgr.com/2016/03/22/how-to-fix-night-shift-ios-9-3/  An android option may be Twilight ow.ly/ZQPa9
Other great updates with iOS 9.3 are Multi-User Ids for Education (only available for schools and institutes) and Secure Notes. For more info, go to this article by TechNewsToday.com http://ow.ly/ZR8X8

What if?
“Gauging Your Distraction” - a game by the New York Times to help show the dangers of texting and driving to teens and adults. Read the instructions carefully...you’ll use your keyboard to play the game. You start out just changing lanes, but a short time into it, you’ll start getting texts on the “on-screen” phone. The game wants you to respond/text back...all the while being able to change lanes as instructed.  It can get a little stressful! This may be a good place to send students when finished with an assignment early. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/07/19/technology/20090719-driving-game.html?ref=multimedia&_r=0  For a short article on it, go to the blog post by +Richard Byrne  http://www.freetech4teachers.com/2016/03/gauging-your-distraction-game-to-show.html

Something to think about…
Digital Poets! Web Tools, Apps, & Lesson Ideas - just in time for National Poetry Month! She has quick ideas for using poetry in most content areas. Under “Ideas/Students can” there are links, just hover over the words and they will turn blue for you. Same for her Resources. http://ow.ly/ZRSjU  image: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postmodern_art

A new “To-Do” list app
To Round has a fun, clean platform for visual thinkers...reminding me of Beats Music at first. “It is a simple yet powerful app, which turns a routine activity of getting tasks listed and scheduled into a delightful experience. Moreover, it has all you need to really get everything done.” Thank you SwissMiss https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/to-round-task-manager-spisok/id1044638681?mt=8

For Social Studies classes...Unfiltered News “Topics and places the world is reporting on right now. Explore what shapes our different perspectives.” Using an interactive cartogram, it has a nice visual feel to it. I could see it being useful for HS Social Studies classes. http://unfiltered.news Thank you +Richard Byrne  http://www.freetech4teachers.com/2016/03/an-interactive-cartogram-of-news.html

What the Experts Say About Talking to Children About Terrorism - a podcast with Dr. Steven Berkowitz, child trauma psychologist, with +Vicki Davis discussing what you may want to know to be able to manage these discussions with PreK to High School students. 11:17 minutes http://www.coolcatteacher.com/talking-to-children-about-terrorism/?utm_content=buffera98f5&utm_medium=social&utm_source=plus.google.com&utm_campaign=buffer  For more resources he recommends going to the National Child Traumatic Stress Network http://nctsn.org/
