Google Classroom, YouTube Teacher and Kids, Chrome Highlighting Tool, Chrome Apps for Science

Did you know?
To delete page numbers from a google doc after they’ve been added - delete the number from the first page and it will be removed from all other pages.

There’s a Teaching Channel on YouTube
Just to name a few:
  • Math Teacher implementing Divergent Questioning (the good, the pitfalls and how to remedy them, the benefits)  Teaching through questioning, not through telling.
  • New Teacher Survival Guides: Planning, Classroom Management, etc.
  • Blooms Taxonomy using Seinfeld episodes (probably not for students)
  • Group Dynamics in 3rd Grade Math
  • Questioning Strategies
  • Simple Voltaic Cell Circuit Song
  • There are several on Math

You can remove movies from the Apple TV intro screen
Here are the steps to do this:
  • 1. On your Apple TV menu, go to Settings>General>Restrictions
  • 2. You will need to set a 4 digit passcode (Remember this!)
  • 3. Go to “Purchase and Rental” and toggle to “HIDE
  • 4. That's it!

In gmail with the Boomerang add-on:
  • you can schedule an email to be sent later
  • get easy email reminders
  • be notified if recipients don’t respond
  • 3 minute how-to video: http://youtu.be/QvYSR3NGDrA

YouTube Kids will be available on February 23rd for free on the Google Play Store.

Chrome has a highlighting add-on tool (with all 4 colors) with the ability to extract it and place it in a new document (by color or location) for students or their teachers to review.  A good use for main idea, supporting detail, key facts, parts of a sentence, etc.

  • Then this menu should show up on the right side of the screen

What if...?
You created lesson recap videos - helpful for students who have been absent. Screencastify chrome extension makes it easy!  Post to YouTube, then link them in Google Classroom = easy access! https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/screencastify-screen-vide/mmeijimgabbpbgpdklnllpncmdofkcpn?hl=en https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je6c7yhAfts

Something to think about...

Google Classroom: Themes - Is it better to have a different theme for each of your classes to make it easier for you to tell the difference between your classes or is it better to have teachers stay with one theme to make it easier for the students to tell the difference between their classes?
